Chiefs must address receiving corps in offseason

How in the world did the Kansas City Chiefs get by without drafting a quality wide receiver over the last 17 years?

That might sound like a silly number, but it's almost completely true. From 1990 to the present day, the Chiefs drafted 20 wide receivers. A total of one of them, Joe Horn, went on to record a 1,000-yard season -- and he did it as a New Orleans Saint.

The second-most successful of this group is Dante Hall, and even he was drafted as a running back. Maybe the Chiefs should start converting more of these guys.

Seriously. Look at some of these names: Fred Jones. Tim Barnett. Danan Hughes. Isaac Byrd. Larry Parker. Desmond Kitchings. Marvin Minnis. Bobby Olive. How many trading cards do you think this group produced?

Definitely not a good track record. Will they be able to turn it around and finally draft a halfway decent WR this year?

Now there is a team wanting to get their hands on the Georgia Tech 6'5" kid with the 4.33 speed...

Re: Chiefs wide receiver woes

None of those are #1 Draft choices. The Chiefs have actually done OK at drafting WR's overall. Joe Horn was a great pick, unfortunately not for them. Sammy Parker is a very good 4th Round WR, that also might blossom somewhere else, as the Chiefs don't use him enough. Sly Morris was an excellent #1 Draft choice, that unfortunately got hurt after his very good rookie season.

Sly was a solid pick...three TDs one Monday night game if memory serves...too bad he got hurt...

Re: Chiefs wide receiver woes

I think the Chiefs are in big trouble next year as I predict LJ is getting hurt big time.

What makes you think LJ is going down?...there is no indication of that...he has only carried a heavy load for about 26 games or so...no where near the load LT has...
