Ever since the franchise first left Dallas and moved to Kansas City, Missouri football fans have had many opportunities to enjoy Chiefs playoff tickets. The franchise, originally known as the Texans, has been one of professional football's most consistant playoff threats since being founded in 1960. In fact, they relocated to Kansas City already having won one American Football League championship, as the would-be Chiefs beat the Houston Oilers in the 1962 AFL Championship. The franchise's first playoff berth in K.C. came in 1966, as coach Hank Stram, QB Len Dawson, WR Otis Taylor and defensive stalwarts Buck Buchanan and Fred Williamson finished the season 11-2-1 and beat the Buffalo Bills to become the AFL champions. The Chiefs went on to face the Green Bay Packers in the first ever AFL-NFL World Championship Game (i.e. the Super Bowl), losing 35-10. However, Stram, Dawson and company would go on to taste victory in the big game just a couple of seasons later. Chiefs Playoff Tickets: Super Bowl IV
Those fortunate enough have have purchased Chiefs playoff tickets during the 1969 season were in for a rare treat, as the Kansas City franchise would go on to make a return trip to the AFL-NFL World Championship, now officially called the Super Bowl. Kansas City finished the season in second place behind the Oakland Raiders, but qualified for the postseason thanks to the AFL's attempt to duplicate the NFL's playoff structure due to the impending merger. The Chiefs took full advantage of the opportunity, beating both the New York Jets and the Western division champion Raiders to reach the Super Bowl, where they would face the Minnesota Vikings. K.C. were 13-point underdogs coming into the game, but thanks largely to the efforts of a defense that held Minnesota to less than 70 yards of rushing and forced five turnovers, the Chiefs emerged victorious, 23-7. Super Bowl IV would be the final championship game held before the two leagues became one, and the Chiefs finished this era with more league championships and Super Bowl appearances than any other AFL team, and their six total playoff appearances were also tied for most in the history of the league. Such early success should come as no surprise to the fans of this proud franchise, who have seen their beloved Chiefs play in the postseason countless times since then.
