Huard vs. Green

I know Herm Edwards says that a healthy Trent Green who is his starting QB. Personally, I think that's a mistake. Damon Huard has been lights out under center for the Chiefs. Today, K.C.'s QB went 10-15 for 148 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs in a big 31-17 win over the Rams. So which guy would you start, Green or Huard?

Starters can't lose a job over injury...that's the honor code...I'd go with Green

Re: Huard vs. Green

Phil Simms, Tommy Maddux, Drew Bledsoe... all guys who lost starting jobs to injury. Hostetler took NY to a Super Bowl, so did Ben and Brady. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen, and usually the results are favorable. Whatever the circumstances, injury or otherwise, you've got to play the guy who gives your team the best chance to win. Go with the hot hand, and that's Huard.

As Lefty said, it's happened many times over. Hell, Trent Green lost his job in St. Louis because he got hurt.

I'm of the thinking that you ride the hot hand. You can't sit Huard if he's producing.

Re: Huard vs. Green

I would also start Huard. Green has not been able to produce in the post season. Maybe a change is in order to see if they can get over the hump. He is playing great right now

Yep, forgot about Green for Warner. Another injury replacement that wound up in a Super Bowl. As much as everyone says that ethically a guy shouldn't lose his job to injury, really, aren't you obligated to start the 22 guys that give you the best chance to win? Right now, that means keeping Huard at quarterback.

Re: Huard vs. Green

They are winning with Huard so I say leave him in. You could mess with this chemistry that the Chiefs seem to have now by taking out the QB.

Re: Huard vs. Green

Good point, Trashed. I think Herm Edwards must've read your post, because lo and behold, what does he tell the press today? "The one thing you can never count out is chemistry on your football team, and that is very important... At this point, I don't have to make that decision. It will be a decision I'll make... "Well, it's not about Trent right now. It's about the football team. That's all that matters."

"If we were the other way, 3-5, we wouldn't be talking about this," Edwards continued. "We'd be saying, `Yeah, when is he coming back? But now, we're winning, and it's, `What are you going to do when he comes back?... It's a good problem to have. But at the end, the decision I'll make is the chemistry of this football team. Does it affect it, does it help it more?"

Sounds to me like maybe the coach is having a change of heart...
