According to Adam Schefter of Espn's Monday Night Countdown, LB Zach Thomas will retire at the end of the week rather than play a season for the Chiefs.
Thomas, the Dolphins' fifth-round draft pick out of Texas Tech in 1996, is known for his prolific tacking despite his undersized (5-11, 242 pounds) frame. He has helped other teams in deciding to use smaller, high-energy linebackers.
During his penultimate season in Miami, 2005, ankle and shoulder injuries set in, but didn't keep him from recording a 10th-straight 100-tackle season. The seven-time All-Pro is a surefire Hall of Famer.
