First!

I'd just like to check in and tout my JGR fandom.

Really, I'm mostly a fan of the 18... Hamlin's kind of cool, but I'm not sold on Legano at all. Sliced bread seems a bit stale to me.

As I've said before, my JGR fandom comes from them moving to Toyota.

I started watching NASCAR right as 'Yota came into the sport, so I hopped on the bandwagon. First year sucked, but JGR made it all worth it in 2008, led by Kyle Busch.

Kyle fan eh? That's awesome. Tell me something? Coming from a Gordon fan who has taken as much crap as possible, do you find anyone giving you that kind of crap being a Kyle fan. Because if you do, you know your fav has the mark of a champion. I think Kyle is a great little driver, and here not too long off we will be seeing him at the banquet in the #1 spot. ( I may be grumbling at the time, but he is good there is no doubt)
Hope you like the new JGR forum, post often!

Re: First!

Yeah, I get crap for being a Kyle fan... It's cool though.

I don't know if Kyle's ready to win a championship yet. His petty revenge at Martinsville that led to him cutting a tire and going down two laps is one example of not racing like a champion...

...and at phoenix, his speeding off pit road at the end... sure he was going checkers or wreckers at that point, but a champion would have laid off just a little on the gas, and accepted a top 5 for the day.

I'm looking forward to Kyle learning these things, and eventually winning championships.

It's all part of the growing process. Now if he was like Jimmie and always politically correct he sure wouldn't be as fun to watch.
If I remember right Kurt had quite a temper too, and he won a championship.
It is cool to watch a driver from beginning, get to watch them morph into betterness. Kyle is raw, but that makes him good too.

Re: First!

I'm a Hamlin fan, and as far as performance goes yes Kyle was # 1 last year, however he had too much confidence going into the chase thinking they had it in the bag. Hamlin had the highest finishing Toyota in NSCS last year and that just goes to show you how far consistency gets you! He is never going to replicate his 2006 Rookie season without winning at least 2 races in a season! He really needs to improve at the intermediate tracks which make up the bulk of the circuit! He can run the wheels off the car at the short tracks as shown by his performance at Martinsville and Bristol so far this season. He is really improving alot on the Superspeedways running up front most of the day with kyle in the Daytona 500 until Jr. wrecked half the field. I look for him to atleast crack the top 5 this weekend that is if he doesnt get caught up in the BIG ONE ! As for Joey, It'll all come in time ! It's his very first time at most of these race tracks! Did you fall the first time you walked ?! Joey is a very good Nascar driver and will sadly easily take the title of 2009 Raybestos Rookie of the year, even though I am a fan of both Joey LOGANO and Scott Speed.

Re: First!

I have been a bit of a Hamlin booster in the past, but he really ticked me off when he went on NASCAR Now last month and said something like "I'd be proud to win a championship without winning any races. It's all about consistency"

While it is an unavoidable part of using a points system that you CAN win the championship without winning races, it should not be acceptable to make that your goal.

AS a Kyle fan I want to thank you for your fairness. It is nice to talk "racin" without the heat. I really appreciate your honesty.

Don't get me wrong I can get mad at him hehe. But I get mad at Jeff too, so it goes with the territory. If I couldn't point out or notice what a talent Kyle was that would make me a moron not to mention blind.
Besides that, my Momma always said if you don't have anything nice to say, wait until your good and mad to say anything LOL.
Your welcome DodgeFB btw I am in Kentucky too

That does not mean he is making it his goal why shouldnt he be proud if he won a championship without winning any races, after all Matt Kenseth did it under the old points system with only winning one race. It's easier said than done in the chase for the sprint cup. Kyle comments very cocky alot of the time on TV, so do you here me complaining that he shouldn't drive the way he does when it's really unacceptable sometimes !
