Garrad, Jags Reach 7-Year Deal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Quarterback David Garrard probably could have gotten the Jacksonville Jaguars to pay him more money.

But he was tired of negotiating.

So Garrard ended the contract process Monday, signing a seven-year, $60 million contract that is the richest in franchise history.

Richest contract in team history. Not bad. Now, is he really the franchise QB? Will he be around to see the end of this deal?

Not a bad deal at all for a career back up. I like how he plays, but I dont know if he will be a franchise qb or not. But there is so few really good choices out there. Jags did what they had to do I guess.

I don't think he's Peyton Manning but like alluded to above by Bette, not a lot of good starting quarterbacks out there. If the Jags feel this is their guy which they must they want to lock him up. I think this was a good move for the Jags.

Seven years is a long time in the NFL. Garrard could be long gone by then, retired or on another team. I doubt he'll be around to see the end of it.
