Jags cut Chris Hanson Up to the minute news about the Jacksonville Jaguars from GoTeamsGo. We'll find the latest Jacksonville Jaguars news so you can chat about here. Quote: Jaguars release veteran punter Chris Hanson
Savannah Morning News, GA - 5 hours ago
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - By the end of the weekend, Jacksonville Jaguars' punter Chris Hanson wasn't a starter. Two days later, he was no longer employed.
The Jaguars released Hanson on Tuesday, just months after a disappointing season in which he posted a career-low 40.6-yard average. His job status became shaky Sunday when coach Jack Del Rio named rookie Adam Podlesh the starting punter, just hours after taking him in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.
A seven-year veteran, Hanson played six seasons for the Jaguars after signing with them in 2001.
"Chris had some struggles last year," Del Rio said. "We addressed the punter situation. Last year is in the history books now. Obviously, we made a move to strengthen ourselves there in this draft."
