Jaguars hire ex-Alabama coach
Contra Costa Times, CA - 45 minutes ago
Former Alabama coach Mike Shula was hired as the quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday.

Shula went 26-23 in four years at Alabama, but the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Don Shula was fired in November after the Crimson Tide went 6-6 during the regular season.

Shula, 41, replaces Ken Anderson in Jacksonville. The Jaguars already hired former Arizona State coach Dirk Koetter as offensive coordinator and Joe DeCamillis as special teams coordinator.

Re: Jaguars hire Mike Shula

So Mike Shula, the favorite son of the Bama nation ( ), has been hired as the Jags new QB coach, replacing Kenny Anderson, who was fired after the season despite the fact that David Garrard seemed just about game-ready when he needed to replace Leftwich. So anyway, what do you guys think of the Shula hire?

Step up, step down or same as Anderson? Seems like a step down to me.

River City Rage from Big Cat Country a Jags fan likes the signing.

I like the signing. Mike got an awful deal at 'Bama with the restricted scholarships, fickle athletic director and what not.

You also gotta figure that the guy knows what the QB situation (or lack thereof) that he's inheriting. I'm all for anything that helps our troubled posistion.
