INDIANAPOLIS - From outside, the mountain seems so high, as tall as the records amassed by Peyton Manning.
Yet the only way the Jacksonville Jaguars can guarantee themselves a spot in the NFL playoffs is to climb it. The Jags want to win the AFC South, and their path runs through Indianapolis.
In addition to taking three consecutive division titles, Indy owns a 10-game winning streak over AFC South teams and is 21-4 against division foes since the division was created in 2002.
"Clearly, they've been in control of this division, and we're in pursuit of it," Jags Coach Jack Del Rio said. "We have aspirations of winning this division. We have a goal set for it. But you can't talk about it, can't wish it. You have to go out and do it."
The Jags (2-0) own a solid start, but the measuring stick comes out Sunday at the RCA Dome against Indy (2-0). A year ago, the Colts won the division by two games over Jacksonville. "They were 14-2, we were 12-4 (last year)," Del Rio said. "The difference was they beat us twice." This entery is from my home town paper (which usually has a slant on things)...So is history going to repeat itself?...have the Jags learned to handle Saint Peyton? |
