So the plan was for Iowa State to roll over cupcakes Kent State and Northern Iowa and come into this showdown with the in-state rival Hawkeyes in good shape, right? Well, it didn't quite work out that way. The Cyclones are 0-2, if you can believe it, losing to a team had was winless against BCS conferences for two decades and then falling to a Division I-AA club they had beaten five straight times. So how in the world do they possibly hope to beat the 2-0 Iowa Hawkeyes? No, really, I'm asking - how?

Well, go figure - the Cyclones upset the Hawkeyes.

According to the Associated Press, "Iowa State kicker Bret Culbertson tied a school record with five field goals, the final a 28-yarder with 1 second left, and the Cyclones upset Iowa 15-13 Saturday for coach Gene Chizik's first win... The victory was Iowa State's fourth in five tries at home against the Hawkeyes (2-1). The Cyclones (1-2) have taken seven of the last 10 from their in-state rival."
