I love this matchup and they agree to extend it to 2017, so good news to me! Obviously being from Iowa this is a big game and one of my favorite rivalries (I even went to ISU, but still root for the Hawkeyes). So who is your favorite Iowa rivalry?


Iowa, Iowa State Agree to New Football Game Agreement :: 10-year agreement puts game on schedules through 2017

Officials from the University of Iowa and Iowa State University jointly announced today a new 10-year agreement that extends the popular series between the two universities' football teams through the 2017 season.

"This annual event is extremely meaningful to the state, the alumni and fans of both universities, and to our football programs. I'm pleased we were able to secure the near-term future of the series in a way that worked well for both institutions," said Gary Barta, director of athletics at the University of Iowa.

The agreement calls for five games to be played on each campus, alternating between the UI and ISU, beginning with this year's game at historic Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Sept. 13. All ten games will be played on the second Saturday of September.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office continues to accept orders for season tickets to the seven home games of the 2008 Iowa Hawkeyes from members of the general public, UI faculty and staff, and current UI students in incoming freshmen.

Yep, cutting this off would be like cutting of Notre Dame-USC or South Carolina-Clemson, keep it going.

Well, let's not get crazy here. It's not *quite* on the level of those two rivalries, but it is a nice little series.

Oh, but it's much bigger than that to the people of Iowa. It's bragging rights and believe me, you don't want to be on the losing side and have to hear about it all year. But to most I am sure it's just a nice little series and not on the level of the big time games. Iowa vs Michigan is always a big one around here as well.
