Iowa Football Dimesses Nelson and Cleveland

University of Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz dismissed two players from the team today.

Second-year players James Cleveland and Arvell Nelson are no longer part of the Iowa roster, Ferentz said in a statement.

“It’s disappointing anytime one of our players doesn’t complete his career with our team and go on to earn their degree from Iowa,” said Ferentz. “That being said, we wish both James and Arvell success in the future.”

University of Iowa Department of Public Safety officers arrested the two players on Feb. 23 on drug charges. Ferentz didn't refer to the charges in his statement.
