Ex-Hawkeye Dwight to Watch Super Bowl with Troops in Iraq

Tim Dwight has done some special things as a football player, but nothing like what he is about to experience.

Dwight is among a small group of NFL players who will spend the next 10 days visiting with U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait. He was scheduled to leave today for Iraq.

“The NFL has a pretty good relationship with the military, and there’s a marketing group that I’ve used before for other events, and they called me up and asked me if I’d like to take a USO trip,” Dwight said Monday during a telephone interview. “I know we’re going to be traveling base to base and visiting the troops and all that.
“I’ll watch the Super Bowl with them.”

Dwight, a former University of Iowa football star and a 1994 City High graduate, said he anticipates the trip being a humbling experience.
