| Douglas reaches plea deal Iowa football player Dominique Douglas pleaded guilty today to credit card fraud, an aggravated misdemeanor, but has asked for a deferred judgment that would keep him out of jail and eventually could clear the charge from his record. Douglas, who has been suspended from the team since August, entered a written guilty plea as part of an agreement with the Johnson County Attorney's office. He could be sentence to up to two years in prison and fined up to $6,250 by pleading guilty to the aggravated misdemeanor charge. Under the felony charge, Douglas faced up to 5 years in prison and a $7,500 fine. Michael Brennan, an assistant Johnson County Attorney, said a sentencing date for Douglas has not been set. The prosecutor said he has agreed not to resist a deferred judgment, if Douglas pays restitution to the online company for $221.53 he charged using the credit card and successfully completes the probationary period to be set by the sentencing judge. Brennan said successful completion of those requirements will permit the charge to be expunged from Douglas record. Douglas, who led the Hawkeyes last season in receptions and was second in receiving yardage, and backup receiver Anthony Bowman were arrested Aug. 19 and accused of making purchases of $2,016.76 from cards belonging to two unidentified victims, according to Johnson County District Court documents.
