| King lands on a spot on Big Ten First Team Iowa extended a consecutive postseason streak to seven Monday, but it's not the one its fans were probably concerned most about last week. The Hawkeyes, who might get shut out of the Big Ten's bowl delegation for the first time since 2000, had a first-team all-conference honoree for the seventh straight year when the league announced its postseason awards Monday night. Defensive tackle Mitch King was the lone first-team all-Big Ten selection for an Iowa team that wrapped up its regular season Saturday with a 28-19 loss at home to Western Michigan that puts the bowl hopes of the Hawkeyes (6-6, 4-4 Big Ten) in jeopardy. King, a junior from Burlington, was named to the conference's first team by the Big Ten's coaches. He was a second-team choice by the media. King led Iowa with 14.5 tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries. He also had 58 tackles, 4.5 sacks and batted down seven passes. King was joined on the media's second team by senior linebacker Mike Humpal and senior defensive end Bryan Mattison. Humpal finished fifth in the league in tackles with 125, while Mattison was sixth in the conference with nine sacks. Iowa's King lands on all-Big Ten first team
