| Hawkeyes expect challenge from Gophers Iowa has encountered countless challenges through this football season season, and now it faces an unfamiliar one. The Hawkeyes spent much of September and October getting acquainted with hard times. They went more than a month without a victory. They dealt with numerous injuries, off-field issues and on-field setbacks. “Everybody saw how we handled adversity,” defensive end Kenny Iwebema said. “We had a lot of practice at that for four games straight.” Iowa hasn’t spent much time working on handling success this season. The Hawkeyes haven’t had the opportunity. But Iowa has assembled consecutive victories for the first time since the season’s first two weeks. The Hawkeyes (5-5, 3-4 Big Ten) are on the brink of another bowl trip. They could finish in a third-place tie in the Big Ten after owning the league’s longest conference losing streak just four weeks ago. The Hawkeyes were underdogs every week since the start of October, but they enter Kinnick Stadium today as a two-touchdown favorite against Minnesota (1-9, 0-6). Thus, it’s natural to wonder how Iowa will handle success. It’s a topic some of the Hawkeyes are even looking forward to finding out. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:05 a.m Hawks expect a challenge from Minnesota
