| Hawkeyes finally playing constantly EVANSTON, Ill. -- The season-long search for a pattern of consistency in Iowa's football season has finally led the Hawkeyes to something that strangely works. They fall behind with a miserable start. Their normally cool coach blows up. They come back for victory. Iowa's unusual script worked for the second consecutive week. This time Northwestern couldn't put the Hawkeyes away. This time Iowa's players, not officials, were targets of a Kirk Ferentz tirade. This time the Hawkeyes didn't need two overtimes. Iowa rallied from another two-touchdown deficit Saturday with another sparkling second half, stepping closer to a seventh straight bowl trip with a 28-17 victory in front of 30,173 at Ryan Field. The Hawkeyes got 299 yards passing from quarterback Jake Christensen, two touchdown runs from Damian Sims and a six-sack, three-interception performance from their defense on their way to their first road victory of the season. Iowa (5-5, 3-4 Big Ten) can make itself eligible for the postseason with a victory next week against last-place Minnesota, but the Hawkeyes might also need a win the following week against Western Michigan to secure a bowl invitation.
