Kirk Ferentz knows as well as anyone that the root of his football team’s troubles is a lack of offense. He stopped short today, however, of blaming a spate of injuries for the offense’s performance.

“If you look at our depth chart from August 1 until now, things look a lot different,” Ferentz said. “But you play the cards you are dealt.”

“Some years are better than others,” Ferentz added. “There’s absolutely no way to predict those things.”
