| Iowa RB/WR forecast Kirk Ferentz addressed the media yesterday, and among the things he discusses were the Hawkeyes RB and WR situations. Ferentz didn't seem concerned about the talent at tailback, and who can blame him. He's got a pair or returning seniors in Albert Young and Damian Sims who last year combined for over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns. Depth seemed to be an issue for him, though. What does the depth chart look like behind Young and Sims? "After that we're an open book," Ferentz said. The Iowa coach also said he felt that the receiving corps - which according to the team's official website includes junior Andy Brodell (Ankeny/Ankeny), freshman James Cleveland (Baytown, Texas/Robert E. Lee), sophomore Dominique Douglas (Detroit, Mich./Murray-Wright) and sophomore Trey Stross (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) - will be much better in 2007. Throw in Mackey Award watchlist candidate Tony Moeaki at tight end and, in the words of the coach himself, Iowa looks to have "the nucleus of having a good receiving corps." Iowa's focus is on the present, not the future :: Ferentz excited about having three weeks of preseason camp

| Re: Iowa RB/WR forecast The Sporting News and SI seem impressed with the Iowa skill position guys. According to the Hawkeye's official team website, "On Wednesday, Aug. 15, Sporting News featured the UI receiving corps in the article 'Iowa expects big things from young WRs.' ... The following day, SI.com rated the Hawkeye running back duo of Albert Young and Damian Sims as the seventh-best combination in the nation. 'This, ladies and gentlemen, is probably the most underrated duo in the nation,' said Cory McCartney of SI.com." Looks like they will definitely be a fun team to watch in 2007! UI football continues to be the talk of the country :: National web sites keep the UI accolades coming |
