Iowa Falls to Purdue, 13-4

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN - - Purdue pounded out 20 hits and scored 13 unanswered runs en route to a 13-4 victory over the Iowa baseball team today at Lambert Field. The loss snaps the Hawkeyes' 12-game winning streak, which included a school-record 10-game conference game winning streak.

Iowa (27-16, 14-9) struck first with four runs in the top of the second inning. Matt Wooldrik started the inning with a single to left center. T.J. Cataldo followed with an infield single. Two batters later, Ben Geelan recorded the Hawkeyes' second infield single of the inning, which plated Wooldrik for the first tally of the afternoon. Justin Toole then reached on a fielder's choice and Jason White was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Travis Sweet registered a bases-clearing three-RBI double to right center to extend the Black and Gold's lead to 4-0. Sweet now ranks second in team RBIs with 45 (Dusty Napoleon, 52). Four of Iowa's seven hits came in the second frame.
