The University of Iowa Hawkeye baseball team defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies, 4-3, Wednesday night at Duane Banks Field. The Hawkeyes improve to 15-14 on the year and the Huskies fall to 20-13.
The Hawkeyes wasted no time taking the early lead, getting two runs in the bottom of the first. Jason White led off the inning getting hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Travis Sweet double down the left field line. Sweet would come around to score on a T.J. Cataldo grounder. Iowa would add a run in the bottom of the third when Justin Brauer recorded his first collegiate hit with a double down the right field line. Brauer would come around to score on a Justin Toole grounder.
