The University of Iowa women's track team competed at the Auburn Tiger Classic today. Senior Becca Franklin and sophomore Renee White grabbed the spotlight by breaking the hammer throw and triple jump school records.

Two Records Fall

Franklin threw 187-11 and finished second, while White won with her triple jump of 41-3 3/4.

See, both kinda newish women events, so chances are better for records in them. Both the hammer and the triple were traditionally guys only events...as was the 3,000 meter steplechase...

In fact in the Olympic competition at one time, women were not allowed to compete beyond the 200 meters...silly rule, since I remember being in 5th and 6th grade and having the fastest girls in school kick my butt in the 600 yard dash...
