University of Iowa junior's Kineke Alexander and Meghan Armstrong each earned all-American honors today at the NCAA Championships held in Fayetteville, AR. Alexander took second and broke the school record in the 400 meters, while Armstrong finished eighth in the mile.
Alexander unfortunately could not retain the title of "400 meters indoor national champion" for another season. Alexander placed second, Natasha Hastings of South Carolina set the NCAA meet-record with a time of 50.80. Alexander's time of 51.48 broke the school record of 51.62. She set the previous record yesterday during the preliminary rounds. This marks the fifth time in Alexander's career which she has earned all-American status.
Armstrong finished eighth with a time of 4:49.07. She earns all-American status for the second time of her career. Armstrong earned her first all-America honors last season when she placed ninth at the Championships.
