Aloha!

Just signed up to this message board. I'm Haynr8dr ("Hawaiian Raider"). So, that makes me a Raiders fan. I'm also a fan of the Fighting Irish and the Boston Celtics. And of course, a HUGE fan of my Hawaii Warriors. I live in the ghettos of Ewa Beach on the Island of Oahu. I am part-Hawaiian. Like Al Bundy, I'm married with children. My children are both young adults now so, I've got my trustworthy Rottie "Koki" as my child now.

Otherwise, looking forward to reading and writing a few posts in here.

Aloha!

As they say, "Time will tell" with Colt Brennan. He has all the skills albeit, not conventional. Sort of like Rich Gannon, he uses whatever delivery he needs to get the ball there; 3/4 delivery, side-arm, shot-put, and shovel pass (when it's not called). He also can scramble, had nearly as many positive rushing yards as Troy Smith.

You'll hear about his "character" because of an isolated incident when he was a 19-year old at Colorado. He's been adjudicated and has paid his debt to society. His character is no longer in doubt still, you'll hear about it come draft time. He's a central figure in Hawaii now, thought of in the same light as Elvis Presely, Jack Lord, and Don Ho - and I guess you would have had to live here to understand that. Those men are Icons here. Also, there will be moanin'-n-groanin' by some that consider him a system QB. But isn't the idea to succeed, regardless of the system? Despite the system, how can you argue with a whooping 185.96 passer-rating? That's nutzz!

He's a little light, listed at 6'3" 205 lbs. The 205 is what he bulked up too, from his 195 in last year's Hawaii Bowl. In my opinion, he needs to add on at least 15 more pounds to go in the 1st round next draft. (Without researching, I believe every QB that got drafted in the first 2-rounds this past draft weighed 225 or more).

He's sort of like Rich Gannon, has been compared to Drew Brees, but he's a little light.

I'd put his leadership and character up there with anyone else's in the nation, however. Mahalo for asking, and here's a link to a Colt for Heisman promotion. These are '06 highlights: http://www.hawaiiantelmedia.com/demo/colt_01.wmv

Welcome.

How upset were you when the Celtics got shafted by the draft lottery , do you have any guys in particular you want them to draft?

Good stuff on Brennan there! So what's your thoughts on the Raiders this season with Russell at QB?

The Celtics have been so down lately, I haven't kept up with them that close. I knew that they had a good chance to hit big in the lottery but, much like the year Pitino came and they had those two opportunities but, ended up with the 3 and 6. IMHO, the Celtics have never recovered from that lottery. The Spurs grabbed the #1 and picked Duncan, and the rest as they say, is history. The Celtics got Mercer and Walker or Billips? I don't even remember. I don't expect that they'll land a franchise savior with the 5 pick this year. There's rumblings that maybe, just maybe they make some sort of block-buster trade. I've read Garnett's name mentioned. Time will tell.

Good stuff on Brennan there! So what's your thoughts on the Raiders this season with Russell at QB?
... ahhhh ... us fickled Raiders fans. I post on a few message boards, primarily sports message boards. The difference of opinions within the Raider Nation it's self is mind-boggling.

But I think JaMarcus Russell is the real deal. Basically, until that bowl game against Quinn's Fighting Irish, I hadn't paid much attention to him. However, it's on film - he can chuck it through the goal-posts from the 50-yard line on his knees. I challenge most to try and throw it through the goal-posts from the 50-yard line standing up, heck, with a run-up even. My point being, the kid has a serious arm - serious! Only time will tell how that translates onto the NFL gridiron.

What I like most about JaMarcus, is JaMarcus the man. The kid is a man-child, mild-mannered and respectful yet, stands head-n-shoulders above Warren Sapp (he makes Sapp look small). Raised by a single-mom and her extended family, there was "8-ways he had it coming" when he messed-up as a kid.

It was posted on a Raiders message board prior to the 2nd pick that they were targeting Zach Miller, the TE out of Arizona St. When that pick came, they traded down a few spots and picked-up a 4th rounder. Miller was still there when that lower 2nd pick came, and they traded the 4th rounder to the Lions for both, Josh McCown and Mike Williams.

From all reports, McCown is looking good in the camps. Speculation is that McCown may win the starter position. It makes sense. He's the most seasoned and the Raiders open against the Lions, the team that dumped him.

Time will tell.

Meanwhile, Mahalo to all that's welcomed me to the board.

Re: Aloha!

I know how you feel about the Celts...pretty much the same with me and the Knicks. They're so screwed up it's tough to put your heart into the team like in years past.

As for Russell, probably doesn't matter if he starts or not because eventually he will anyway. That is, if McCown doesn't unleash a Vince Young-esque winning streak.

Re: Aloha!

Good stuff. I'm a little uncertain about Russell - he did great during the Sugar Bowl, but his career at LSU was a little up and down. Miller seems like a good prospect, and I'm real excited about Michael Bush's prospects. He's gonna be the real deal once he's healthy. I definitely think you guys are on the right road. Hope you stick around and chat with us throughout the season!

Welcome aboard GTG. I don't get to see many Rainbow Warriors games here in the Souteast but I love the offence they run.

Colledge football is my main area, SEC, But hope to read some of your posts. Great info you posted on Brennen.
