Talking No - I don't need ice for a drink!

You might have guessed that I am an ice hockey fan. Yup! It's true. I have occupied space on this planet since 1943, and I can still remember when the NHL consisted of a mere six teams. My real name is in fact the same as that of an old time player that spent his entire NHL career either in Detroit or in Boston. If you are familiar with any of the players of the 40's-50's era, then knowing that he was a blue-liner might be just enough to figure it out. Although hockey is my favorite, I enjoy almost all team sports and am looking forward to future exchanges with what promises to be a diverse and highly knowledgeable group of fans.

Keep your head up and your stick on the ice.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo Gotthave ice? We here can probably learn a lot from you. Is Gus Bodnar the player you're alluding to?

Yo Pundit: Wrong guy but perfect time slot. Also, I believe Gus played for Chicago before coming to Boston. My namesake started in Boston and then went to Detroit. Two more tidbits; a) Gus and Mr X were both in Boston at the same time b) Mr X finished his professional career in 1969, although not on an NHL team.
If you go back far enough to remember Gus, I would think the additional info would solve the puzzle for you.
