| Everyone's one once First post... okay. Hoops addict. Player through college. Coached through the high school varsity level, and scouted for one university. Over three decades as an official, through the JC level, now retired, though I still do a few games every year just to keep my hand in. Love the Kings, enjoy the Warriors, and haven't had any reason to abide the Lakers since Jerry West retired as a player. I will stop to watch a sixth-grade girls game, and enjoy it. Baseball and hockey are great sports; golf drives me nuts; football is silly, and the NFL is the silliest. Figure skating, gymnastics, synchronized swimming and ballroom dancing are NOT sports, nor is anything else that depends on a group of judges telling you how well you've done. Ballet dancers are superb athletes. Sports reporter (among other things in the newspaper business) for most of my life. Favorite piece of trivia: The home team won 81 per cent of the games Richie Powers refereed during his NBA career. |

| Re: Everyone's one once *LOL*... don't get me started. There's Ronnie Garretson, whose only real qualification for being an NBA official is that he is the son of Darrell Garretson (Darrell Garretson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). There's Steve Javie, who did five years as a high school official before going to the NBA -- which is a crock. He once tossed the Bulls mascot from a game, and later tossed a radio color analyst. The best referees are the ones you never think about when the game is over. |
