Bet Im the only Kiwi here!

Hi people have recently joined the site primarily for the Nascar forum however I love NFL NHL and MLB so look forward to joining in on many topics.

While I am back here living in lil' ol' New Zealand I spent 20 years in Vancouver, Canada so really grew up watching all North American sports

We get all Nextel Cup races live at around 6am Monday morning so the Australian V8 Supercars are more popular but Nascar is gaining momentum...especially with guys at my work

Look forward to your posts

Hi clutch, welcome to GoTeamsGo

You may be right about that but I'm good freinds with a lady from Nuhaka, in Hawkes Bay. And I've got 2 guys on IM from NZ who I chat with regularly. Small world, eh?

Look forward to chatting with you.

Yeah, getting smaller all the time with the internet. I'm from the big smoke of Auckland but was down in the Hawkes Bay city of Napier last week where I sampled a few of their wines

Re: Bet Im the only Kiwi here!

Man, I got John Walkers autograph at a sports store in St. Heliers in 1979...or was it 77 anyhow he was a hero.......

...not sure that we have the technology to compete nation to nation but we definitely still have stars who like Snell still run throught he backroads and paddocks and seem to inspire the rest of our tiny nation

...did I mention Americas Cup?

Cool, Walker was still churning sub 4:00 minute miles in 1979...I think he had over 100 in lifetime (counting 1,500 meter equivalent)...Like Snell before him, he was just a powerful runner...Have they held the Commonwealth Games there of late?

Americas Cup?...the Wing Keel?...no wait, I think that was the Aussie boats...my bad...

No commonwealth lately, '74 and then in the 90's but I was in Canada then.

Am looking forward to the Americas Cup in Valencia, Spain next year. Do you know much about Team USA

I've seen Dennis Conner in Auckland a couple of times.......I believe he has a place down here and he sails in some comps.
