Question Hi! I'm Bev

Hi! My name is Bev, and I live in Coarsegold, California which is in the foothills above Fresno, on the way to Yosemite National Park. I am a 49er fan and also a SF Giants fan. My husband converted me from a St.Louis Cardinal fan to a Giants fan about forty years ago. That may tell you something about how old I am!!! I am originally from Oklahoma and grew up listening to the Cardinal games with my mom and dad. My husband also influenced my football team choice. At home we liked the then Baltimore Colts and of course I now root for the 49ers and have for many years also.
We have been watching the baseball playoffs and for the first time that I can remember ESPN and FOX are not showing the singing of the National Anthem. I find this very disappointing, I for one really enjoy this part of the 'pregame' it kind of adds to the experience of 'being at the game'. Although if I were in attendance I wouldn't have to listen to the 'experts' tell me what the pitcher and the catcher and everyone else on the team is thinking and how this play was made and watch it over and over again. I manage to figure out the game and what is going on when I am at the ballpark without those 'experts' telling me what is happening. In fact, I enjoy it a heck of a lot more! I watched the Yankees and Tigers at Yankee Stadium and saw the seventh inning singing of 'God Bless America' but it wasn't shown when they were in Detroit. Was I out of the room? I don't think so. Didn't see it at Dodger Stadium or St. Louis or San Diego or Oakland! Just curious if anyone else is as irritated as I am???

Re: Hi! I'm Bev

Hi Bev, welcome to GoTeamsGo

Yes, I'm in agreement on the National Anthem. I think that's an important part of the game and should be te way that every game starts.

Thanks for the recap of all the teams you follow. If you've not seen yet, we have a team forum for each one of those teams that you mentioned so I hope to see you chatting with us about all your favorite teams.

Look forward to seeing you around.

Thanks, Ross

Welcome to GTG Bev!

I agree about the National Anthem...but only for important games. I rather not hear it on TV during the regular season. But for the post-season, it definitely adds to the sensational atmosphere (even through the TV).

I don't think the people at home should be subjected to hearing the National Anthem, it doesn't do anything for me sitting on the couch, I don't stand with my hand over my heart so why show it.

Thanks for the welcome and the comment! I agree about the regular season and I definetly agree about the important games. It is a nice tradition and I also enjoy seeing who they have selected to sing and if they do a good job or slaughter it as some have done in the past! It also makes me reflect on the good things about our country.
So I assume you are a Mets fan! Have you always been?? I think that is who I am rooting for, my husband is rooting for the A's because he says they have a good, young team and of course they are the only West Coast team left!! So Go Mets!!!
