We're considering changing the way points are scored next season and awarding points based on where on the podium your picks end up if not where you chose plus adding extra points if you predict the pole. The new points system would look like this:

Pick the podium correctly.
1st place............................20 pts
2nd place...........................15 pts
3rd place............................10 pts

If one of your picks finishes on the podium but not in the position you picked, points would be awarded as follows:
2nd or 3rd pick finishing 1st....7 pts
1st or 3rd pick finishing 2nd...5 pts
1st or 2nd pick finishing 3rd....3 pts

Correct Pole Position..............5 pts. (In the event that qualifying is canceled, no points would be awarded.)

So, predictions would be for pole position plus 1st thru 3rd place finishes (the podium.) A perfect prediction would result in 50 points being awarded!

How does it sound to you? Suggestions?

I had already gone back and recalculated the standings of the F1 Contest before we exchanged PM the other day, Charlie. It gives the standings a different look.

My only suggestion might be concerning the additional awards. It would go something like this:


Correctly picking all 3 drivers on the podium in correct order - permanent member title upgrade & plaque added beside "STAFF," "VIP," etc. reading "CONTEST EXPERT," or something like that.
Correctly picking three podium drivers, not in exact order or 2 drivers in exact finishing positions - one month member title upgrade
Correctly picking 1 driver on the podium in exact finishing position - honorable mention.
