Right now Dixon, Castroneves, Wheldon, Kanaan and Patrick comprise the Top 5 in the standings thru the first half of the season.

Who will take the Championship title? One of these or, perhaps another driver?

speaking of flickering bulbs, I missed the incident, but my son filled me in: I think Danica's bulb is mostly out and needs replacing before somebody gets hurt.

These yellows need to be reduced and even to re-introduce the partial yellows.

Is it the "NASCAR mentality" that's creeping into other forms of racing? The same mentality that says "these drivers aren't competent enough to handle partial yellows".

I believe it's the only way the sanctioning body can get "commercial breaks" so their TV brethren (and themselves) can make more money.

ESPN runs the side by side, even under yellow, pretty often, so i doubt it's to plug sponsors.

But that doesn't mean they aren't swayed by the "customs" of the bigger series.

Welcome, steve, to GoTeamsGo and world of motorsports. I see you've already been over the NASCAR side and hope you find time to share your thoughts and opinions in both places. I think I saw where you think IRL is a pretty great series already. Me too, after the merge.

Be sure to stop by the "predictions" threads for both NASCAR and IRL (thought I haven't yet posted it) for the upcoming races. Ya never know, ya might win something.

i'm certainly not opposed to partial yellows but i think the IRL tries set its broadcast apart from the NASCAR broadcast. i think the side by side is great myself and is one of their main selling points.

i love racing. i love open wheel racing, more so than NASCAR. i think the series is really beginning to pick up steam now, especially with the new IZOD deal and DirecTV a while back. it's a shame, with the product now being so much better that they couldn't get it done sooner. i just want that one, name NASCAR driver to make the move to bring the casual fan back to IndyCar to see the product on the track is better than NASCAR.

it's nice to have some place to talk IndyCars with others. that's the real reason i signed up.

i will add, i love the Indy 500 more than any other race or sporting event i attend.

Do you attend as many "Month of May" activities as possible, just the race, or somewhere in between? I'd love to do any of the above, but not sure it's in the cards.
