Cool Colts: Can Rhodes replace James???

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Dominic Rhodes has long proclaimed he could start in the NFL, if given the chance.
There are plenty of reasons the running back enters the summer No. 1 on the Colts' depth chart: He's shown he can handle the workload, was productive when he did, and can already translate the litany of audibles Peyton Manning calls at the line of scrimmage.
For now, it's Rhodes' job to lose. But even if beats out first-round draft pick Joseph Addai, one question won't go away: Can he replace Edgerrin James?

I really don't think Rhodes is up for the job...James was an elite back...Rhodes is a cut or two below...anyone think Rhodes can fill the big shoes left by James???

Rhodes seems to be injury prone. Maybe Rhodes/Addai could possibly be the answer. Could be interesting.

Cool Re: Colts: Can Rhodes replace James???

I kinda like the Joseph Addai option myself...

Here is the ESPN word on Addai:

Joseph Addai is an all-purpose back who finished second in rushing and third in receiving for LSU as a junior in 2004. Addai was listed as the backup to Alley Broussard heading into the 2005 season but took over as the primary ballcarrier when Broussard was lost to injury. When healthy early in the season, Addai capitalized on the opportunity with 642 rushing yards in the first six games, which significantly improved his draft stock. However, a lingering ankle sprain slowed him during LSU's final six regular-season games, when he rushed for just 139 combined yards. Addai did bounce back with a strong performance (130 yards on 24 carries) against Miami in the Peach Bowl, but there are still concerns regarding his overall consistency.

Addai is a decisive, slippery runner with excellent timed speed and impressive overall versatility as a receiver and blocker.

I think Eli is going to grow up to be a bit like big brother...but, Peyton can't have him show him up...I am sure Archie Manning will be in the stands for this one...

Would love to see Peyton win it all this year and get that playoff monkey off his back...(btw, thanks for tossing the Cowboys your kicker)

Fans won't have to wait long to see the anticipated 'Manning Bowl'.

OMG have you seen them two on the Battle of the Gridiron Stars on ESPN! The sibling rivalry between them two is hilarious! Imagine if the Colts and Giants were to meet up in the Superbowl. Wouldn't the news media go nuts over that one!

I hope Vanderjagt works out well for you guys. I didn't really want to see him go (along with Edgerrin) but since we were able to sign Vinitieri, I think that's a good pick up! I wish "Vandy" well!
