| Colts will have key players back next season If someone other than Tony Dungy leads the Indianapolis Colts into Lucas Oil Stadium next fall, he will do so with a pat hand. Or at least a loaded roster. Seventeen of 22 starters, along with the place-kicker, punter and long snapper, from a team that became the first in NFL history to win at least 12 games in five consecutive seasons are under contract. One of the five exceptions, tight end Dallas Clark, will return either with a long-term contract or as the team's "franchise'' player. Another, defensive tackle Ed Johnson, is the exclusive property of the Colts providing they issue him a contract offer, which is a foregone conclusion considering the impact he made as a rookie. So while the sting of Sunday's AFC divisional loss to San Diego remains, the future is hardly bleak. That was part of the message Dungy delivered to the players during a Monday meeting. | Re: Colts will have key players back next season yea seriously. that would be like san diego cutting antonio gates cuz they got manumaleune ( i think i actually spelled it right) but yea, the future hardly looks bleek when you got a all-time top 5 qb and an all-time top 5 wr and reggie wayne is puttin together a hall of fame career and gonzalez is coming along VERY nicely, now if we can just do something about kenton keith's horrible hands |
