Looks like they're not the first this year, even. Went looking for info about those Saints teams I mentioned, and ran across this story of a Redskin fan who noticed Wasington pumping in fake crowd noise against the Giants. I wonder how many other teams do this?

Not sure, but it appears to have gotten the NFL's attention - NFL investingating Colts crowd noise

the announcers mentioned that Brady was having a tough time hearing the plays being called in due to the crowd noise .... and he had to keep going over to the sidelines

personally, i can't see how a TV broadcast glitch could produce such a weird sound. it definitely sounded liek something skipping. however, Belichick said the in helmet audio system wasn't working for the Patriots, so they had to run in plays or signal plays in. that's the more likely reason why Tom was running to the sidelines.

CBS TAKES BLAME FOR SOUND GLITCH

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that CBS has taken responsibility for the bizarre sound glitch that has prompted speculation that the Colts were caught red-handed in the act of piping phony crowd noise into the RCA Dome.

Per Schefter, the vibrating sound as the Pats were driving at the start of the fourth quarter was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck. Schefter says that the sound could not be heard in the stadium.

He sits in a box and watches tv, or someone told him about the glitches and he thought it would be a perfect opputunity to start a controversy, basically because hes the owner of the cheating pats..doesnt matter though cbs has taken the blame..

No, absolutely not. I've said so much elsewhere. Dungy's the epitome of a high character individual. That's why I've said from the start that if the Colts were doing anything like this, I was 100% certain he was not involved.
