The Immortal MVP Peyton Manning

After winning Super Bowl XLI and being named the game's Most Valuable Player, Peyton Manning is truly one of the sports immortal players. Along with Tom Brady, although perhaps moreso. Manning will likely have all the regular season stat records for a top QB when it's all said and done and now he has the ultimate prize.

The monkey is off his back.

Now the only question remains, where will he rank on the all-time list. It's obvious he'll be higher than Dan Marino after tonight.

Where do you rank him among all-time greats?

youre kidding right ?

1st Brady has 3 rings Manning has 1

2nd Manning has much better talent around him

i know at the moment the Manning Kool-Aid is fresher, but get your head outta the punch bowl and take a deep breath

lets give them another 5 years or so and revisit this question

Obviously the point that Brady has two more rings now than Manning is the strongest but look at these factors some could make...

-Brady has never won without Bellichick's system.
-Peyton is the better QB when it comes to all the stats

You can't argue those two points.

sure i can........you underestimate me

Manning never won it without Dungy.......sounds just as valid as your Brady comment

Mannings stats are higher then Brady's.........but that is in most part due to better talent at WR and RB......also better stats doesnt trump 2 rings

Not just better stats but all-time great stats. The man will set records at most of the major QB stats.

And I doubt anyone will try to argue that Dungy is the caliber coach of Bellichick.

Re: The Immortal MVP Peyton Manning

like i said Empire dude, its too early to enshrine either one of them in the Hall of All-time Best QB........lets give them atleast 5 more years........it could all change by then

as of now Manning has the stats and Brady has the rings

you say Brady has the much better coach......ok ill give you that

i say Manning has much better talent.....dont see how you could argue that

right now aside from Addai, the Colts just look older.......Harrison is 34 and the Colts have the last pick in the draft

the Pats on the other hand are slightly younger and they have 2 middle of the 1st round picks in the draft.....they are slightly better set up for the future

if Brady and Manning both retired today this would be a great debate......rings vs stats.......but i believe they both have atleast 5-8 more years as quality starters........so this may be alot more clear at that point.....Brady may basically stay where he is while Manning continues to be a stat machine and get a couple more rings then Manning will far and away be the best ever..............on the other hand Manning may never get back to the SB and Brady may get a couple more rings, then Brady will be best ever hands down

i just think at this point its too early to tell

Re: The Immortal MVP Peyton Manning

Manning and Brady are both great. They both have Superbowl rings now but that monkey is the hell off Peyton's back that he can't win the big one. It adds the cherry on the cake that he was the MVP against the Bears yesterday. You can start arguing that Peyton is a top 5 of all time QB, he got the one missing component that could have put him out of that ranking yesterday. Just remember that the Colts are an 8-8, 9-7 team without Mannning at best.

First of all... I can't be the only one here who believes that Manning being named MVP was a joke. I like Peyton, I really do, but he wasn't the MVP of that game. I would've voted for the RB tandem, Rhodes & Addai. Indy won that game with running and defense, and while Manning is a great player and was a valuable contributor in the victory, saying he was the #1 reason Indy won that game is silly.

Peyton is a better QB...I would think most GMs putting a team together would take him over Brady...the guy is like having a second coach on the field.

Too many unknowns. Wait five years, then we'll know.

Manning's monkey is gone, true, but his gameplay and form will be dissected and tested even more than ever from now on. He's still got a lot to prove.

I totally agree Lefty, I thought Rhodes was a shoe in for the award......

As far as greatness of all time, Marino was the best quarterback I ever saw play(and I'm a Jet fan) , even though he never won a Super Bowl. And I think now that Manning won a Super Bowl, he is definitely on par with Brady. (Sorry Simon).

If you go just by winning Super Bowls, then Bradshaw or Montana would be have to be the best, right?

My order now as of now of best QB's of all time:

1. Marino
2. Elway
3. Montana
4. Manning
5. Bradshaw

And if Manning keeps it up, he may just very well move up on the list. (Brady would be in the next few, in my opinion). Maybe:

6. Favre
7. Brady ...Still not bad, Definitely not an insult to BRady being the 7th best QB of all time. (I never saw Unitas play)

A lot to prove???...as in what?...first they said he threw too many ints (early in his career), then that he couldn't win a playoff, then that he couldn't get past New England, then that he couldn't win a Super Bowl...

Yeah, I mean...okay, so he needs to stop world hunger, and gobal warming, and....give me a break...

...that and he lead me to 3 Fantasy League titles this year...jsut saying...

You're joking right? Manning has done it all now including winnning a Superbowl and being it's MVP and he has a lot to prove? What more would you like him to prove? Like Goth said and end world hunger and stop global warming? Seriously what does Peyton Manning need to improve his game on the day after he wins a Superbowl? Please tell us because I await with baited breath what it is. Dude you been drinking something when you posted that and it aint that Kool-aid in your avatar!

Re: The Immortal MVP Peyton Manning

Geez.

Take a breath and calm down, people. Let's wait and see if he can keep winning, keep proving everyone wrong. If he wins one, two, three - whatever - more, then we can all throw our hands up in the air and proclaim him the best there ever was and elect him president.

I never doubted that Manning would eventually win one. Anyone who did Gross-ly (pun intended) underestimated him. Everyone can say without a doubt that he's truly great, but I wanna see what he does from here. That will prove his level of greatness.

That's it.
