So instead of taking, say, $1.2 million less to stay with a winner, he bolted for a perrennial loser and a slightly higher paycheck. How about Bettis, who last season was asked -- ala James -- to take a pay cut for the good of the team. He did, he got his ring and his storybook ending, and still had more money than any one of us would ever know how to spend. Guys like Elway and Bettis are the ones worth rooting for. This "disrespect" card is garbage unless they lowballed him immensely. |
Hooey!...You have no idea what Manning, Harrison, or the rest of the league would do in the same situation...Bettis did not see his QB sign for the money that Manning did...he did not see his team invest in Reggie Wayne over him and he did not have a soar taste in his mouth over his contract when he blew out his knee years earlier...so it is not apples to apples...
As for the amount of money, what does that have to do with anything?...Get real...if you are working at McDonalds for $6 an hour and your two key co-workers got a raise to $8 an hour and you didn't...you would still feel the same...especially if Buger King was willing to give you $8 and welcome you with open arms...
Under those conditions you would label the guy a loser????...oh please...
Reggie Jackson and Catfish Hunter jumping to New York from a 3 time World Series Team in Oakland for more money...losers too huh?...I mean they took more money to leave a winner...
Come on man...get real...one has nothing to do with the other... and you know it
