| Peyton Manning bio For the longest time, Peyton Manning has been considered one of the best quarterbacks in the game of football. And for good reason. The Indianapolis signalcaller owns several all time passing records, including most TD passes in a single season [49] and most years with at least 4,000 passing. In addition, Manning ranks 13th all time on the career yardage list.
However, the knock on this Tennessee Volunteers grad has always been that he couldn't come through big in the playoffs, and couldn't lead his team in the Super Bowl. That all changed on January 21, 2007, however, when Manning led the Colts to an AFC Championship victory over the New England Patriots and into Super Bowl XLI.
Manning was named co-MVP in 2003 and won the award outright in 2004. He is a seven time Pro Bowler, and was also the recpient of many honors while still in college, including the Maxwell Award, the Davey O'Brien Award and the Johnny Unitas Award, all in 1997. Furthermore, his #16 has been retired by the University of Tennessee, and one of the roads outside Neyland Stadium was renamed in his honor. A fitting tribute to the man who owns more than two dozen Vols passing records. |
