AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

Well, the Indianapolis Colts wound up with a 12-4 record and the #3 seed in the AFC playoffs. That means that they face off with Larry Johnson and the sixth-seeded Kansas City Chiefs. Can the Indy run defense handle LJ? How do you like the Colts chances in this showdown?

I like our chances. It's a home game and the Colts haven't lost a home game all season.

Got to like the Colts at home...defense aside, you are never really out of it with Peyton...should be a wild one.

Larry Johnson may run for 400 yards!

Bob Sanders is supposed to be back. So having Bob back should help the defense.

Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

I think the Colts will do really good on this game. The Chiefs aren't a horrible team, but they did get lucky on making it to this game. The four teams that had to lose lost! They deserve it though I think.
I can't wait to see this thought it should be really interesting...My brother is a Colts fan and my dad is a Chiefs fan....

BigBlueShoe of Stampede Blue Colts blog says the Colts are going to win the whole thing. Now this is a glass is half full kind of guy.

I will go out on a limb here folks. A limp so far and so long that it is very possible it will break and I'll fall flat on my face and look like a big, fat schmuck doing so: The Colts will indeed beat the Chiefs, and beat them badly. The Colts will then beat every other team they face in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.

Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

Theoretically, Larry Johnson should be unstoppable going up against the marginal run defense.

However, I don't think he will do anything jaw-dropping. Peyton Manning is the best defense the Colts have now. If Manning is able to lead the Colts down the field consistently on a weak secondary, then the Chiefs may fall into the trap and start passing.

Colts Gameplan: Come out of the gates quickly. The farther they fall behind, the less threatening Larry Johnson becomes. Right now, Peyton Manning is the best defense you have.

Chiefs Gameplan: Stick with the run and force them to stop it. The Colts will get points behind Peyton, but you cannot play to their strengths and abandon the run.

Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

Chiefs had no first downs in the first half. Zero. Which looks to be equal to their chances of winning this game. Colts lead, 9-0.

Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

well, its Halftime and Larry Johnson has 19 yards on 8 carries

so much for the Colts not being able to stop the run

I just think it's amazing how great Peyton Manning is during the regular season and comes the playoffs he plays like Eli Manning.

Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

This is exactly the kind of game nobody thought the Colts could win. Especially if Peyton Manning threw three picks. But Addai grew up and the defense turned out to be the MVP.

Can they do this more often? I doubt it, but it's nice to know they have it in them.

Cool Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

I wish Cincy would have made it, instead of KC. It would have been a better game. Although KC cut it to 16-8, I never felt like they were really in the game.

Re: AFC Wild Card: Colts vs. Chiefs

Big BLue Shoe of Stampede Blue has this to say:
Quote:
First off, I am amazed at the play of the Colts defense against the Chiefs. That performance was one of the most dominating defensive performances in NFL playoff history. No team since 1960 had held a team 2.5 quarters with out a first down. The Colts did just that against the Chiefs today.
Stampede Blue :: KSK and Deadspin can
While that's pretty impressive, to call the Colts defensive performance one of the best in NFL history is a bit of a stretch.
