Colts caution against panic after 2 losses
Houston Chronicle, United States - 13 hours ago
INDIANAPOLIS — Tony Dungy isn't panicking.

But with two losses in three games, a run defense that continues to allow nearly 164 yards per game and an offense that has topped 20 points only once in four weeks, Dungy certainly is concerned about his Indianapolis Colts.

A day after their second loss dropped them into a tie with San Diego for the AFC's best record, Dungy again pleaded with his players to correct mistakes that are becoming common.

"It is as bad as it seems," he said. "What we've got to do is do what it takes to get it back right. We're not very far, but you can't say everything's fine when it isn't fine."

Re: Should the Colts panic?

Two losses in three games... any reason for Dungy and the Colts to push the panic button yet?

Cool Re: Should the Colts panic?

Dungy is the type of guy that if the celiing on the dome started to cave in, he'd just be standing there very calmly. But seriously, the regular season means nothing to Indy, very similar to the Yankees. Post season is all that matters to the Colts and I'm sure they'll be ready to go.

Re: Should the Colts panic?

No the Colts shouldn't panic but they might want to start playing a bit more seriously again.

44-17, the Colts lost this one to the Jags. Ouch. Yeah, I think IndyNASCARgirl's right - it is officially time to panic.

Yep...what sucks is that Manning anchors three of my fantasy teams (all in the playoffs of course)...I need the man to be throwing Tds not Ints...

But this team can't stop the run...so unless they can fix it quick...so long Super Bowl...

And it looks like Stokley, who just came back, is done for the year now. Achilles, they're saying.

Re: Should the Colts panic?

Is it just me or does anyone else believe the Colts won't encompass a "great" football team so long as Peyton is at QB. Granted their weakness isn't at QB, I just don't know if Peyton has the leadership and motivation within himself to be a team leader; the one who pulls a team together and rallies them around him. Against the Titans, he should have been the one running the 2-minute drill to perfection to get his stud kicker a shot at a 60-yarder to win it. Instead, he fizzled with the lead, granted Dungy had a bit to do with that situation as well.

What i'm saying is that I think the Colts chances are running slim. Marvin is aging, the D is in shambles(and I thought they addressed the D this past draft from 2nd round on...), and the team is losing what stronghold they once had on the division. 12 straight division wins, and suddenly you lose two straight.

Bottom line is, the Titans are vastly improving behind VY and the Jags appear ready to make a run at Indy. I'll put my money on the Jags or Titans winning the division in '07.
The Colts had their run, and look where its taking them

straight to the bottom

Re: Should the Colts panic?

The only way I think it is hurting them is that he is keeping them in the playoffs. They are not getting very high draft picks. Even with Peyton, I only give them 2 more years of a realistic chance of a superbowl win with this team. Harrison is aging. They are going to need to find a stud WR soon. I am not sure about Addai yet. He has been productive, but not consistent. He also needs to step up for them to win.

Re: Should the Colts panic?

If the Colts don't want to panic then they should be very concerned. Their defense is terrible and seemingly playing worse as the year progresses as evidenced by these losses. No team without a good defense wins the Superbowl.

Man that really stinks! I'm starting to think that there's something in the water in Indy.
