Coming off two injury-shortened seasons in which he missed a combined 40 games, Foster enjoyed a relatively healthy campaign, appearing in 75 games. Though his averages (4.3 points, 8.1 rebounds) represented a slight dropoff from recent seasons, he continued to rank as one of the league's most productive rebounders, finishing third in rebounds per 48 minutes (16.8) and first in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes (7.0). The starting center for most of the first half of the season, he willingly accepted a reserve role immediately after the trade but returned to the lineup late in the year, finishing with 43 starts.
