Due to Kelvin Sampson's past recruiting violations as the coach at Oklahoma, the current Indian Hoosiers coach has been all but banned from calling or visiting recruits until May 24, 2007. That said, it does not look like the university is doing to exercise the clause in Sampson's contract that would allow them to terminate him without penalty. He will stay Indiana basketball coach. Right move?

I say no. If he has violated rules in the past he will do it again. Terminate his contract now and find a coach that has a credible past!

I tend to agree. This was no small offense, either -- there were over 500 instances of improper phone calls, if I remember what I read in this article correctly. But who to replace him with?

I see where you are coming from Lefty. You have to have somebody to hire in his place. And at this late date it may be difficult to find a top notch coach.

IU is definitely in a tough spot to say the least. There new coach is already bringing trouble and he has not even coached a game there yet.

Do you think this is why he left OK?

Part of it. Indiana is a far more prestigeous basketball coaching gig too, and I'm sure money was also a factor. It usually is.
