| credit Dakich, staff for holding Hoosiers together Story by Mike Lucas ESPN college basketball analyst is an "old school" head coach who was outraged by the perceived insubordination of 6 Hoosier players who missed a Friday afternoon practice after the resignation of Kelvin Sampson. Even though they all reported in and participated in a walk thru later that day, Phelps says he would not have played them the following night at Northwestern. Interim Coach Dan Dakich said he was proud of the way those kids came together and won. He also wanted to make it clear that the actions of the 6 players to skip Friday's practice "wasnt some kind of boycott" He said the kids were informed at a 11:45 meeting that Sampson had resigned and practice was scheduled at 3. The kids needed time to figure things out and time to digest it he said. He never stopped believing the kids would come back. Sports I'd say this is a man who understands kids very well. Its a lucky Hoosiers team that had him as their head coach instead of another, dont you think?
