Terry Hoeppner dies

Sad news to report out of Bloomington. Hoosiers football coach Terry Hoeppner has passed at the age of 59.

The cause of death is being listed as complications from a brain tumor.

"Terry's fight was courageous and will serve as an inspiration to those who have known him," Indiana athletic director Rick Greenspan told reporters through a statement. "This is a truly sad day for our community and all of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hoeppner family and to those whose lives he has touched."

Hoeppner was also a former coach at Miami of Ohio. He will be missed.

Post Hoosiers see Hoeppner's memory as inspiration

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Indiana Hoosiers want to make this Terry Hoeppner's dream season.

After the inspirational poems, the motivational pep talks, the memorable phrases and the credo Hoeppner instilled, the Hoosiers intend to carry out his legacy and preserve his message — and not quit on his quest for a bowl game.

"Our job is ensuring that Coach Hep's dream comes true for the program," fullback Josiah Sears said. "We want to carry on his dreams, which included bowl games, and at the top of his list, for sure, was the Rose Bowl."
