CSTV.com, NY - 11 hours ago
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Indiana men's golf team stands in a tie for third place with a total of 308 after the first round of the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday, April 7. Due to weather, the tournament was cut to two rounds, with one being played on Saturday.
"The weather was obviously a factor today, because it was 28 degrees when we started and then under 20 with the wind chill and didn't get much better," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "It's a testament to all of these kids that they could play in these conditions. Seth had a great round, as did Jorge. I'd have liked to see a slightly lower score, I said that 205 would be a good score for today, but I will take it. Hopefully, the conditions will be a little better tomorrow and we can challenge for the title."
Leading the way for IU was sophomore Seth Brandon, who is tied for second with a two-over-par total of 74. Fellow sophomore Jorge Campillo stands in a tie for 13th after carding a 76, while classmate Drew Allenspach is tied for 28th position after a first round 78. Freshman Alex Martin shot 80 to enter the final round in a tie for 42nd place, and sophomore Brandon Pike is tied for 70th with a total of 83 on the day.
