BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior guard Roderick Wilmont earned his first Big Ten Player of the Week accolade, the league announced this morning. Wilmont is the second Hoosier to secure the honor this season, joining junior forward D.J. White (Jan. 22).
The Miramar, Fla., native recorded back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 26.0 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Hoosiers clinched sole possession of third place with victories at Northwestern and against Penn State last week. Wilmont finished the week shooting 19-of-35 from the field (.543) and 13-of-24 from the three-point line (.542). He scored a career-high 31 points and matched a career best with 12 rebounds against the Wildcats and hit a school record nine 3-pointers in 13 attempts (fourth most in school history).
