Top ten in grades and wins

During spring practice, Coach Weber started a get tough pokicy so players could learn their roles after Illinois set a single season record of 19 losses.
The Illini already know their roles in the classroom. Illinois was the only team in the Big Ten Conference to finish in the APR's top 10 percent. The Illini scored between 965 and a perfect 1,000. A product of the NCAA's desire for academic reform, the APR tracks graduation rates, player eligibility and retention. Teams lower than 925 face penalties and the possibility of losing scholarships.
Illinois basketball has been among the top 10 percent in the all three years of the APR.

Coach says he knows the fans are mostly interested in wins. But at the same time he got into the business because he wants to help kids. He feels that they are doing the right thing to help those kids be successful in life.
