RANTOUL, Ill. -- Anyone wondering about Illinois' running game has some early encouraging news.

On the first offensive play of the Illini's annual preseason scrimmage Saturday night, Daniel Dufrene ripped off an 80-yard touchdown run, bursting up the middle and throwing off several tackles.

Dufrene is a senior leading a group of younger running backs that coach Ron Zook has indicated might play by committee as they did a year ago.
