If you’re into fantasy football, and a
Houston Texans fan, you’re probably wondering who on the Texans are expected to be playmakers in this 2006 fantasy season. Of course, with last season’s lackluster performance, some of these suggestions might seem to be a bit risky, but could well prove to be worth a review.
Of course, the Texans have a decent quarterback in
David Carr. Sure, last year his numbers weren’t stellar. However, with WR
Eric Moulds being added to the roster and TE
Bennie Joppru being in action for the Texans this season, Carr will have a few extra solid targets to throw at. Certainly not the best fantasy pick, but not the worst either. I’d put him somewhere around the 20th best choice out there for fantasy fanatics. If you have the opportunity to take a better quarterback first I would recommend it, but if you pick Carr up he is likely to have a good season this year.
A solid choice for running back would obviously be
Domanick Davis. He has had several consecutive good years running for the Texans, and I don’t expect this year to be strikingly worse. The Texans have beefed up their offensive line some, picked up a few new fullbacks to stick in front of Davis, and added a few good blocking tight ends to the roster. All of this will help Davis climb on the fantasy draft boards. In my opinion, Davis just cracks the top 10 for running backs in 2006.
When it comes to wide receivers, the Texans have two options for your consideration.
Andre Johnson is undoubtedly a solid pick for your fantasy team. Easily in the top 20 for wide receivers, Johnson is quick, reliable, and will be sure to earn you points this year. Another alternative is WR Eric Moulds. While he was with the Bills last season he put up good numbers that are likely to increase with Carr throwing to him instead of Bills’ QB Kelly.
On a Fantasy Level I agree with this article. Davis seems to be a top 10 runner. Andre Johnson I think had an off year and is probably better than last seasons stats...and Carr would be a superstar behind any other line but the Texans.
