Less than two years after he looked like one of the NFL’s most promising young running backs, Mike Bell might not be able to find a job.
Bell, who carried 157 times for 677 yards as a Broncos rookie in 2006, did virtually nothing in 2007, carrying six times for three yards. This year the Broncos waived him, and now, just over a week after he signed with Houston, the Texans have
waived him too.
It’s not clear why Bell was let go by the Texans so quickly, although there has been talk that he was out of shape when he showed up in Houston. Texans coach Gary Kubiak hinted that conditioning was an issue after Bell’s first practice, saying, “He looked a lot faster than everyone else to begin with but
then he got tired.”
