Texans GM Charlie Casserly to Resign

Quote:
Next week, Houston's general manager Charley Casserly is expected to meet with Texans owner Bob McNair. Many expect Casserly to leave Houston and become the top candidate for the job that Art Shell vacated in the NFL.

If Casserly opts to leave, then the Texans leading candidate would become Broncos assistant general manager Rick Smith. The Texans also are expected to consider Packers director of pro personnel Reggie McKenzie and Panthers director of college scouting Tony Softli -- two deserving candidates.

But Texans coach Gary Kubiak watched Smith work in Denver, knows what he's capable of, and Smith would be at the top of Kubiak's wish list.
-From an article over at NFL.com

Very interesting...Can't see how Texan fans (who were pro-reggie bush) would see this and be happy.

Re: Texans GM to Resign

Once the story leaked, Casserly resigned immediately on Wednesday. He told the AP that the reason is indeed to pursue the opening in the NFL's front office, and has nothing to do with the fallout from passing on Bush. You guys buy that one? Not sure I do.
