Texans Listening to Offers

Quote:
NY Daily News -
The Jets are smitten with Reggie Bush, but will not call the Texans about moving up to the top spot to get him, even with Houston willing to listen to trade offers. There is also the possibility that the Texans will take defensive end Mario Williams at No. 1. There's even a slim chance Bush could fall to the Jets at No. 4.

The smoke screens make the air pretty cloudy over the 32 team headquarters so close to the April 29-30 draft, but last night Texans GM Charley Casserly insisted that Houston has not decided between the dynamic Bush, who can score from anywhere on the field, or Williams, the 6-7 pass rusher from North Carolina State, given a higher grade by the Texans than Julius Peppers in 2002.

Casserly said he hasn't received any offers for the No.1 pick. "It doesn't mean we won't," he said. "We are open to offers."

Are they kidding me? The Texans where actually thinking of passing up Reggie Bush?!?

Re: Texans Listening to Offers

Bush has all-world potential, but the Texans have far greater need areas. I could see a deal getting done.

Re: Texans Listening to Offers

Bush's all world potential also comes in a pint size package...I would roll the dice and see if I could get a package of really high draft picks for him...and why does Huston not make the first move and call someone?

Cool Re: Texans Listening to Offers

I agree with Gotham. They need big time help on their offensive line. What good is Reggie Bush if he can't get past the line of scrimmage? Walter Payton couldn't get anywhere behind that O-Line.

So who do you think will end up with Reggie Bush?

Re: Texans Listening to Offers

See, now that's the problem... I can't see the Texas moving out of the top 5, and every team they could deal with has greater priorities. Probably the Jets are the most likely candidate, having picked up Ramsay and needing an eventual replacement for Curtis Martin. Honestly, though, I have no idea how a deal would come about, or who with.

Re: Texans Listening to Offers

He would look nice in green and white. But even though Curtis Martin is at the end of his career, I don't think that they would push Martin into the dust. He is a veteran and I think he will get the first priority. But they can put Reggie Bush as the primary running-back and put Curtis Martin into a secondary running-back or full-back that won't get half as many touches.

Re: Texans Listening to Offers

Any team would be stupid to not listen to offers whether it involves trading picks or players. You never know when someone will present a deal like the Vikings did to the Cowboys when they got Herschel Walker. That trade led to the Cowboys dominating a good portion of the 90s.

I doubt the Jets would make a deal of that nature but if the Texans could get the Jets picks at #4, #29, #35 and a late rounder they would be hard pressed to pass up a deal like that.

You guys have got to be joking!! Any team that would pass on Bush is crazy!!! The only player you take over Bush would be Vince young. They will get that O-line better very quickly. You'll see!!

Re: Texans Listening to Offers

I could see an O-line being inspired enough to block for a phenom like Reggie Bush. But at the same time, if they can make a trade with the Jets for their two first round picks (and lord knows what else, remember when Ditka traded The Saints entire draft for the rights to Ricky Williams? I wouldn not be surprised if that happens this year, being an Eagles fan I am hoping Philly does it, Bush is perfect for their system) they should strongly consider that.

Does size make a difference in the NFL? Look at Santana Moss!

Welcome Tex... I see you like Bush...but in rating Young #2, is your Texas pride doing the talking? (clearly an assumption based on name... )

Running backs take a much bigger pounding than receivers.
